It can be confusing and frustrating for a young person to cope with these changes, which can lead to behavioural issues affecting both school and home life. A school counsellor can act as a mediator to the young person offering help, support and the chance for them to be themselves.

I have experience of counselling children aged between 7 and 16 years both in private practice and in a school setting having worked on a voluntary basis for Place2Be (www.place2be.org.uk) and more recently for Philippi Trust, St Helens. Additionally, I currently hold a position as a one-to-one counsellor at Winstanley College, working with young people aged 16-18 years and St Aidans CofE Primary school in Billinge, working with ages 5 - 11 years.
